  5. ARTISOFT SOUNDING BOARD ADAPTER

  8. TUCSON, Ariz. -- May 20, 1991)--Artisoft announced today its
  9. LANtastic Voice Adapter has been renamed to the Artisoft
  10. "Sounding Board.  "We feel that the Sounding board name fits
  11. better because it doesn't classify it solely as a network
  12. product and doesn't limit its application to voice," said
  13. Jack Schoof, Artisoft's President and CEO.

  15. An update to the Sounding Board software will begin shipping
  16. in June (hardware unchanged).  It will include a new pop up
  17. recorder utility called SoundPUP and be fully compatible with
  18. Microsoft Windows 3.0.

  20. Anyone purchasing the Artisoft Sounding Board adapter between
  21. now and the date on which the update ships will receive a
  22. free update.  Current registered users can receive the
  23. update for $15.

  25. Artisoft's Sounding Board adapter includes a telephone-style
  26. handset for quiet, private voice recording and playback. The
  27. new SoundPUP utility allows users to record their thoughts or
  28. messages as a DOS file from within an application.  It will
  29. operate as a TSR under DOS and as a Windows 3.0 application
  30. in real, standard, and enhanced modes of operation.

  32. The Sounding Board adapter will also include some of the
  33. basics of Artisoft's Voice Programmer's Interface, allowing
  34. developers to quickly and easily add voice to their own a
  35. applications.  The complete set of developers tools is
  36. available separately in Artisoft's Voice Programmer Interface
  37. for $75.

  39. The Artisoft Sounding Board can be used with Artisoft's
  40. LANtastic local area network to provide voice mail or used
  41. independently with applications developed by programmers with
  42. Artisoft's Voice Programmer's Interface.

  44. Artisoft's Sounding Board adapter is a low-cost, IBM
  45. compatible expansion adapter that converts between
  46. audio/voice signals and a digital data stream.  When used in
  47. conjunction with supporting software, it provides the
  48. capability to digitize spoken messages, preserving them in
  49. nearly their original fidelity.  The Sounding Board adapter
  50. is $99 for ISA bus and $199 for Micro Channel.
